All employees are entitled to written details of the key terms of their contract of employment. This includes the notice period required to terminate their employment by dismissal or resignation. Contracts of employment for teachers in the maintained sector invariably incorporate the national terms and conditions set out in the Conditions of Service for School Teachers in England and Wales (the Burgundy Book). This includes notice provisions which have fixed dates for notice.
