Jobseeker’s Allowance

Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) is payable to unemployed people who are actively seeking employment.

Unlike most benefits, JSA includes both a contributory and a means tested element based on the individual and their partner’s income and savings. If an individual is eligible for Universal Credit, he or she may also be able to claim another type of contribution-based JSA, called “new style JSA”. New style JSA works in the same way as contribution-based JSA.
