The national changes to assessment have had a substantial impact on the analysis of data and especially our ability to compare year-on-year results and trends over time. At the same time, Ofsted has been reviewing and revising how inspectors should interpret data and indeed even the place of data in the inspection process. The quote in the title is taken from the blog post of Ofsted’s National Director for Education, Sean Harford. It sums up the approach he wishes/instructs inspectors to adopt.
