London’s outdoor workers are regularly exposed to illegal limits of air pollution, the first research from the British Safety Council’s Time to Breathe campaign has found.

The Canairy app, developed with King’s College London, gathered data on air pollution exposure among 92 participants over six months. The group included both indoor and outdoor workers.

Although both groups were exposed to high levels of air pollution, the report found that the outdoor workers are exposed to air pollution averages higher than the guidelines for nitrogen dioxide (NO2), particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) and ozone.
