Introduction

Occupational health is an umbrella term that covers all types of ill health caused by or connected to the type of work that people do. This includes everything from serious and fatal respiratory diseases and cancers caused by exposure to hazardous substances such as asbestos; to musculoskeletal disorders caused by unsafe lifting; and mental health problems and conditions associated with excessive occupational stress.
