Advice on manual handling training for employees provided by the British Safety Council’s Information Service.
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 require employers to avoid the need for employees to carry out manual handling tasks that pose a risk of injury, so far as is reasonably practicable.
However, if potentially hazardous manual handling cannot be avoided, employers must assess the risk of injury and take appropriate steps to eliminate or reduce the risks.
