What steps should we take to comply with the duty to manage asbestos?

While it is now illegal to use asbestos in the construction or refurbishment of any premises in the UK, thousands of tonnes of it remain in place in many public and private buildings, including factories, offices and homes.

Common locations where it can be found include asbestos cement roofs; asbestos insulating board used in items such as partition walls; lagging on boilers and pipes; and asbestos composites in items like old toilet cisterns.
