Efforts to provide guidelines for punishing misconduct are meeting stiff opposition, reports Philip Smith

Back in April this year, the Accountancy and Actuarial Discipline Board (AADB) published proposals which aimed to provide tribunals with a set of guidelines to assist findings against errant accountants. A tribunal was previously able to impose any available sanction, or combination of sanctions, it saw fit.
