In June 1974 a massive explosion ripped through the Nypro (UK) Ltd plant at Flixborough, near Scunthorpe. 28 people tragically lost their lives in the disaster and 36 others suffered serious injuries when the dangerous gas cyclohexane escaped from the site. It shocked the nation and led to an act of parliament being passed that would do more to protect our daily lives than any other.
