The content and specifications of the new Childcare and Education T-level have now been published following approval by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education and Ofqual.
The CACHE developed technical qualification will be one of the first to be delivered this September as part of the initial roll out of T-levels.
The Level 3 programme is designed to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to enter skilled employment within the education and childcare sector, or to continue to study that technical subject at a higher level.
T-levels will be the technical equivalent to completing three A Levels, combining classroom theory, practical learning and an industry placement and are replacing the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification from this September.
Julie Hyde, NCFE Executive Director Education & Training Strategy, said:
“This announcement comes at an especially challenging time for our sector, and one which highlights the integral role that educators and childcare practitioners play within our society. It is now more than ever that we see how essential it is that our future childcare workforce is equipped with the highly skilled practitioners it needs. We are therefore proud that this T-level will help create opportunities for learners to enter the workforce, and ensure that they have been trained to the highest of standards.”
Work is ongoing for the second, third and fourth waves of the new qualifications which will lead to a total of 25 T-levels being launched by 2023.
