The Foreign and Commonwealth Office advises that care should be taken when travelling in rural parts of northwestern, Copperbelt, Central and Luapula provinces close to the border with the Congo Democratic Republic, particularly after dark. It adds that “using legitimate border crossings in these areas is generally safe”.
