Political protests in the capital Malé have subsided since the presidential election in September 2018 and the inauguration of a new president in November 2018. There could still be further political protests in the capital Malé and a number of other towns in the run up to parliamentary elections in April 2019. Continue to exercise caution and avoid any protests or rallies. Outlying islands, resorts or Malé International Airport are not usually affected by protests or rallies.
